Nicholas Utton’s education and experience in the marketing business covers the expanse of three decades.  Since 1977, when Nick Utton first began studying at Pietermaritzburg, South Africa’s University of Natal, Nick Utton’s concentration has been focused on marketing, advertising, investment management and budgeting.  After earning his graduate degree from the University of South Africa in Pretoria, South Africa, Nicholas Utton maintained his connection to the academic circle by taking on a three-year, part-time lectureship with the University of Pretoria.  Meanwhile, in addition to lecturing in marketing and business management courses, Nick Utton jumped headfirst into the business world, holding down his first product management positions at Unilever, Richardson Vicks, and Bristol-Myers Squibb Company.

Later, Nicholas Utton went on to serve executive positions at Cadbury Schweppes, Revlon International, MasterCard International, The NewPower Company, and JP Morgan Chase.  Today, Nick Utton is Chief Marketing Officer at E*Trade, a company whose marketing campaign most recently made a splash due to the success of their 2008 Super Bowl advertisements.  In addition to the company’s selection of Grey New York as E*Trade’s advertising agency of record, Nick Utton’s fingerprint on E*Trade’s marketing strategies can be witnessed in E*Trade’s history of advertising work with known search engine Google.  Digitization in marketing is an idea Nicholas Utton has long emphasized in his work with E*Trade, and much of Utton’s marketing resources are automatically relegated to web-based advertising campaigns.

Outside of his professional career, Nicholas Utton is an accomplished athlete.  A sailor, snow skier, scuba diver and runner, (Utton has completed three New York marathons) Nick Utton is also an active player of squash, tennis, and golf, and is a coach of youth community sports.
